FIBRE Pro demonstrates leadership in testing and troubleshooting of FC-AL (Fibre Channel Arbitrated Loop) host adapters and devices.  We provide a variety of commands from explicit seeks to read defects of SCSI protocol packets over the FC-AL.  FIBRE Pro is based on our successful implementation of SCSI based disk, tape and jukebox diagnostics.

General Features

FIBRE Pro provides the following features that are valuable in diagnosis and troubleshooting of storage problems on Windows NT.

A device scanner that identifies all disk devices on all loops.  It can support up to 16 HBAs (fibre host bus adapters).

A scripting tool for creating specific test scenarios that can be easily repeated by an operator.  Once the script is developed and working, it can be placed within the FIBRE Pro GUI environment as a tool bar button.  The scripting tools create CLI (command line interface) strings that recreate the users selections without the GUI overhead.

A command menu for issuing a single SCSI operation to devices sequentially, for example:

Basic:

  • Test Unit Ready

  • Send Diagnostic

  • Reset

  • Reserve

  • Release

  • User defined CDB's (command descriptor block)

Info:

  • Inquiry

  • Log Sense (extremely useful)

  • Mode Sense

  • Request Sense

  • Torture Test - performs twelve sequential steps involving power-down, power-up, "butterfly seeks, reads, writes.  This test is designed as a "burn-in" for fibre disk drives.

Logging:

  • A logging facility that records error messages, activities performed and key messages; all time and date stamped for reference.  The user can determine the level of logging desired and where it should be directed
